Technology totally strutted its stuff when Penpreneur Associates (againts all odds), conducted an interview with our Startup Feature for the month of February, over a very smooth video conversation with popular contemporary singer – Abiola ‘Dozan’ Fadayomi who thrilled us all to consistent hits such as “Oshomo“, ”Wedding Day”, “Beautiful Day“, back in the 2000’s.

To a lot of his fans (including us), the very talented singer/producer/entertainer simply went off the grid, without saying goodbye.

It was therefore a very pleasant surprise when one of our partners recently found him on social media and managed to convince him to grant us an interview, even though he now lives far away in Maryland, USA.

On the agreed day of interview, sitting next to his beautiful wife and two adorable daughters, Mr Fadayomi looked crisp and unruffled in his cream coloured sports suit, coolly letting us into his newly acquired wealth of knowledge and perceptions.

His general ambience was a total contrast from what we remember him to be back in the 2000’s. He was cooler, healthier, sounded more intellectual and he had definitely been through a spiritual upgrade this past few years.

Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you, the rebirth of Evang. Abiola ‘Dozan’ Fadayomi, the widely acclaimed singer/producer you’ve missed so much.

Enjoy.

[su_spoiler title=”Of all the ways to be creative, why music?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Because music is life. My mom often recalls how as a toddler – I sang and danced to the sounds and vibrations of the mortar whenever she pounded in the kitchen.
So, its not just that I love music, I am music, and my dad sings too, so it in my gene.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”What kind of music do you specialize in?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]I have been professionally into music for 16 years now. But I stoped making circular music when I had a rare call from the Lord to become an Evangelist. I was shown a vision where I saw myself in hell, three different times and was told that it was my last warning to change. Luckily, I got sent back to the world with Psalm 51 vs 13; “then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you”. Fortunately, through my music, I’ve being able to spread the word and my ministry to very far places of the world. God has assured that if I could do this, he will take me and the ministry to the greatest places in the world. I agreed.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”This must have been hard. How exactly were you able to pull this off?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]It took me 3 years before I stopped singing profane songs, thankfully today, all I sing now is gospel songs, family-friendly and good love music. I equally stopped producing secular music for people, because it is practically aiding and abetting. Doing so only affects my ministry negatively and takes me back to acts I disclaim. I remind myself constantly of the scripture in John 8:47, which says “he that is of God, hears Gods words.” This keeps me boosted and constantly in love with making gospel music.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”How did you venture into music in the first place?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]You ask me how? I just found myself naturally singing and really loved it because it’s my life. To be honest with you there have been days I do not remember tasting any food but was absolutely fine, just singing, strumming my guitar and recording in the studio.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”How did you come about your style?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]I don’t compose. I just sing whichever style I like, because I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me. For instance, I am an African living in diaspora, and I have to introduce my African music in a western way. So my style depends on the people am ministering to; if they are Arab, I minister to them in an Arabic way. Any artiste or a singer who does one style hasn’t mastered versatility yet. But as for me, I do any style of music I’m inspired to do.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Is your brand only limited to music?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]No. I am a singer, music and film producer, an evangelist and counselor and I also design clothes. I like counselling married couples, youths, and reprobates.
[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”How have you been able to juggle these multifarious industries with your religion?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]I’m not a religious person. Religious people create boundaries to God’s service, standard, wills and ways. They go against another faith, but being Godly teaches you the ways of God and not the ways of men.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Have you released any album yet?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Yeah, not less than four albums already; Oracle of God, Singing Preacher and some ,but I’ve had over a hundred secular singles in the past. It’s just that I don’t want any glory in that kind of music anymore. You must have heard some of them everywhere(Laughs).[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Who are your target audience exactly?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]The whole world is my target audience, because I have a mandate from God to teach transgressors the ways of the Lord and make sinners convert to Him. So it’s a message that carries power that can’t be contained in just ordinary music.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”So would you consider yourself a success now?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]See, I’m transformed by the renewing of my mind and not conformed with the world but seek things that are good being counselled and reproved with truthfulness and godliness, inclined to God’s Service. For me, that is true success.

[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”What would you say is your unique edge and why can’t it be copied?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]All my Inspiration is from God, and due to the story of my growing up, I had a very sour experience of unhappiness and always attaining to be rich until I discovered that no one can receive a thing except it comes from the Lord. My inspiration usually comes in my dreams. That is why I told you earlier that I don’t compose songs, I just sing them.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”How do you push through your worst times?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Hard times are normal circumstances in this world. Because the scripture says in John 16:33; “I have told you these things, so that in me, you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” So basically hard times improves me, boosts me and always makes me stronger. I always see hard times as the night, while the good time is ahead which is the morning.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”Where do you see Nigerian Music in the next few years?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]The world finally recognises Nigerians as good singers and music legends and our present artistes have assisted our reputation positively in the music world generally. So Nigerian are respected musically. In ten years, I see Nigerian music taking the world in leaps.[/su_spoiler]

[su_spoiler title=”What is your advice to youths who want to go into music abroad abroad like you?” open=”no” style=”default” icon=”plus” anchor=”” class=””]Be careful and beware, the devil goes around looking for whom to devour. Sing reasonable and good music, because the Devil was the Chief Singer in heaven so he can easily turn a talented individual to his advocate. So sing your heart out and be reasonable with your style.[/su_spoiler]
